Doorway 9: Travel, Truth & Intuition

As we enter Doorway 9 we lighten up and expand our horizons. This house corresponds to the sign of Sagittarius, ruled by the beneficent planet Jupiter. The symbol for Sagittarius is the Centaur, half man and half horse, representing intellect and instinct. In this house, we address our relationship to philosophy and beliefs. Doorway 9 is where we develop knowledge and seek truth through higher education, travel and cultivate our intuition. This is the house of published writing, as well.

In the 9th House, we go from the explorations of what we learned early in life, in the 3rd House, to exploring higher ideas and ideals of people, cultures, and beliefs that are far different than your own.

The depths we reach in considering the mysteries and matters of Doorway 8, shows us how high our arrows of truth and inspiration can fly in the affairs of Doorway 9.

Travel, here, is long distance travel as opposed to short trips. This is travel that can be life-changing, expanding our horizons, leaving us profoundly different than we were before we set off on the journey.

Here are some quotes on travel, truth, and intuition to support you in considering what aspects are ready for an upgrade. You can also use these quotes to do free flow writing and see what arises.

One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things. Henry Miller

Travelers, there is no path, paths are made by walking.  Antonio Machado

Cease trying to work everything out with your mind. It will get you nowhere. Live by intuition and inspiration and let your whole life be a Revelation. Eileen Cady

Questions to Explore

Take a moment to sit with the following questions. You may want to journal on them or have a discussion with a close friend. You can also just sit with the question for a bit and allow your thoughts to arise of their own accord. Sometimes asking a powerful question is enough to create a shift.

  • How has your intuition served you?
  • Where have you traveled that was life-changing? What made that trip so powerful?
  • In what way has your philosophy changed, over the years?
