Whether you grew up with siblings or not, those who shared your everyday moments at home – mostly relatives or sometimes like-family friends – helped to shape who you’ve become.
Your siblings are your first peers, often the first friends, helpers, and playmates you have. Depending on your birth order, you may have been given the responsibility of looking after your brothers and sisters, or you may be the younger one, who was looked after, bossed around, or left out of activities.
You learn a lot about relating and sociability from these early relationships. Whether you get along well or fight like cats and dogs, your siblings teach you a lot about interacting with your peers.
Let’s take a deeper look at how your sibling relationship affected your attitude and approach to your life as you grew up.
~ What is your favorite sibling memory?
~ Was there rivalry or competition between you?
~ Were you emotionally close to your siblings?
~ What did you love to do together?
~ Did you share secrets or private jokes?
~ Could you count on a sibling to be there for you if you needed help?
A Deeper Perspective
The Goddess of Now says your siblings are there to help shape your character. Though you share parents, you each play a unique role in the family, and your early interactions support you in fulfilling that role. As adults, you may find yourself forming friendships or relationships that resemble the ones you had with siblings. Some of these roles feel empowered and others can make you feel small until you start to see the roots of the behavior that began in your early life.
The Goddess says these childhood roles set the stage for who you become as you matured. In looking at your relationships with your siblings as a training ground for individuality, you can understand why you don’t necessarily agree on everything, or in some cases, anything. Each of you plays a different role that supports the dynamics of the family. As adults, you each play a different role in the family of man.

Feel it moving through your body until it lights up every cell. Feel the space between your cells expanding, creating more space and easy movement. Allow your energy to get as big as the Earth and then beyond, all the way to the edge, approaching the unknown multiverse.
Look back and feel the vastness of You. Bring your siblings into this expansive essence that is you and them. Sense the deep heart-to-heart connection that pulls you together to know one another as siblings. Focus on the threads of Love weaving between you and creation.[/thrive_custom_box]
