Day 28: Rebirth and Roar

There are moments in life when things fall apart in a big way. Though at first it might seem like the worst thing possible, with a little reflection and a little time you get to see that it’s an opportunity for a do-over, a rebirth of sorts.

If you live long enough you invariably encounter these portals of power, sometimes quite frequently. The smart thing to do when a vital vortex finds you is to open to it! It may seem natural to shut down, to resist, to refuse to entertain the notion that your world has turned upside down and things will never be the same. They won’t and that’s a good thing. You are poised at the portal of something heretofore unknown.

Rebirth is something we rarely speak of in our society, but everyone has been through it, in one way or another. Rebirth is what happens after you have been through hell and have relinquished the parts of yourself that you can no longer carry forward. This is the phoenix energy that rises from the ashes and lives a life free of the past.

There are many roads to rebirth, none of them are easy but all of them well worth whatever they cost you to get to the other side. Divorce, death of a loved one, disease, menopause, or the loss of a job will do it for many people.

You can also be reborn in a way that looks more positive but will also require giving up much of who you thought you were. Things like getting married, moving somewhere new where you don’t know anyone, beginning a new career, having a baby, or even starting your own business. Though theses events may not look or seem devastating, they will change you in ways, both subtle and glaring, that let you know you are on new ground.

Rebirth may happen suddenly or gradually. There are no hard and fast rules. Sometimes it is only in hindsight that you realize you are not the same person you were when the original event or decision occurred that put you on the path of profound transformation.

Goddess of Now

The Goddess of Now says we are all reborn in every moment. Each breath is an opportunity to start anew. Without realizing it, you live the same moments over and over again until it seems like things never change. Open your mind and heart to the endless possibilities available to you.

You are free to change course at any time you choose. It can be as simple as taking a breath and relaxing completely into the Now. Nothing is etched in stone. It is only your habits of thought and behavior that ever make it seem like you are stuck. At the very least, you can change your mind about something, and that alone will begin to shift the energy.

The Goddess tells us that your life is meant to be fluid and flowing, and yet there are times when you can no longer continue as you were. The major turning points in your life require a release of what was, so a deeper, wiser you can emerge. Embracing the transformation allows the magic of rebirth to occur more swiftly and gracefully.
